Boulder is located in a beautiful valley surrounded by mountains where fishing, hunting, hiking and biking abound. Ghost towns, hot springs, radon health mines and much more are right outside our door making Boulder a wonderful place to live and visit. Boulder, the county seat of Jefferson County, is located in southwestern Montana. It is midway between the mining city of Butte and the capitol city, Helena, just off 1-15 at Exit 164. In 2021, Boulder had a population of about 1,033 people with a median age of 40.2 years and a median household income of between $42,000 and $48,800. County wide the population median age was slightly lower and the median household income hovered around $70,000. A majority of the employed commuted to work. The economy of Boulder employes about 450 individuals and the largest industries are in the fields of Health Care & Social Assistance, Construction & Extraction of Natural Resources, Retail and Public Administration.
